White Rabbits headline Club NME LA

White Rabbits performed with three drummers at Club NME Los Angeles with Fred Perry Subculture last night (June 13).

Playing several songs from their recent debut album, 'Fort Nightly', the clean-cut New Yorkers got Club NME-goers hopping with their complex dance-rock reminiscent of !!! and The Walkmen.

"We are thrilled we made it here in one piece -- the van broke down just 200 miles outside of LA, but the stars aligned and we made it," said drummer Jamie Adam Levinson.

The six-piece band ended their set with a rousing rendition of Bob Dylan's 'Maggie's Farm' that segued into their own song, 'Kid On My Shoulders'.

Club NME with Fred Perry takes place at Spaceland in the Silver Lake neighbourhood of Los Angeles every Wednesday night.

Next Wednesday (June 20), The New Year and David Bazan are set to headline Club NME LA with Fred Perry Subculture.
Kaiser Chiefs bring Radio 1's Big Weekend to explosive close

Kaiser Chiefs brought Radio 1's Big Weekend to a explosive finale tonight (May 20).

Returning to the UK live circuit after their north American tour, the Yorkshire band hammered home second album 'Yours Truly, Angry Mob', at Preston's Moor Park, playing seven new tracks from the album.

Speaking to NME.COM before their headline show, bassist Simon Rix said: "We're playing just over half new stuff. We haven't had a gig at home since it came out, so we're looking forward to getting everyone up singing 'we are the angry mob' and all that nonsense. It's mainly old singles and new album."

At the beginning of another busy season for the band, Rix continued: "I like festivals, because at our own gigs we always get there really early but there's sometimes not a lot to do. But at festivals there's always a few people you can go and see, and talk to, like The View."

The band had arrived early to check out Mark Ronson, after this week shooting a cameo appearance in the video for his and Lily Allen's cover of their song 'Oh My God'.

Keyboard player Peanut said: "We watched Mark Ronson's set, apparently he's not done many gigs. We saw him the other day when we were doing that video shoot. I like what he does to some of the songs, it's interesting cos you hear it and you're like 'I know it, I know it'. I like it. I think it's going to be a hit once again!"

Kaiser Chiefs played:

'Every Day I Love You Less and Less'
'Heat Dies Down'
'Ruby'
'Thank You Very Much'
'I Can Do It Without You'
'Modern Way'
'Everything Is Average Nowadays'
'High Royds'
'I Predict A Riot'
'Take My Temperature'
'The Angry Mob'
'Oh My God'

Meanwhile, Bloc Party, just back from their European tour with Biffy Clyro, headlined on the In New Music We Trust stage.

"Today we've been sitting around mostly, watching the bands," said singer Kele Okereke. "We've seen MIA and Dizzee Rascal. Northern crowds are very interesting, very enjoyable. It's been really good. We're playing a few more festivals in the summer so we're really looking forward to that."

Klaxons proved a favourite on the same stage earlier on, watched from the side of the stage by members of Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, Maximo Park and [/a]Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly[/a], who also played today.

Earlier, Dizzee Rascal, who was joined by Scope and DJ Semtex, wowed a heaving new music crowd.

Previewing tracks from forthcoming third set 'Maths and English', Dizzee indulged in plenty of crowd banter, urging the audience to "make some noise" and "get old skool".

The rapper played tracks including 'Flex', 'Old Skool', 'Fix Up, Look Sharp' and new single 'Sirens', and dedicated a song to "all the beautiful ladies out there".

Radio 1's Big Weekend also saw performances from Maximo Park, Stereophonics and The View, who were partying backstage with actor Jody Latham, aka Lip from Shameless.
